Description

Boryszew Kunststofftechnik, the German subsidiary of the Polish automotive supplier Boryszew, announced the closure of its production sites in Gardelegen (Saxony-Anhalt) and Idar-Oberstein (Rhineland-Palatinate), as well as the elimination of approximately 430 jobs. The measure affects production employees at both locations and is part of the phase-out of business operations by the end of 2026, after no investor was found for the company during insolvency proceedings.

The closure follows an unsuccessful search for investors despite a process that has been ongoing for over a year. The company cites the persistently difficult situation in the automotive industry and a lack of orders as reasons, making continued operations no longer economically viable.

Production is to be phased out gradually by the end of the year. The workforce reduction is to be carried out in consultation with works councils and unions to find socially acceptable solutions for the employees.

Boryszew Kunststofftechnik produces components for the automotive sector and supplies major vehicle manufacturers, among others.
