Description
The Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona is set to open two new stores in Covilhã and in Viseu - Centre Region of Portugal - by April 2026.
It will create 140 new jobs, including 65 jobs in Covilhã and around 75 in Viseu. All employees have permanent contracts from their very first day of work.
Mercadona currently operates over 70 supermarkets across 12 districts in Portugal and employs more than 7,500 people. For 2026, the company plans to open 12 new stores, with an investment of around €150 million, ending the year with 81 supermarkets in operation.
