European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Mediapro, an Spanish audiovisual media company, has informed trade unions of its intention to launch an Employment Redundancy File (ERE) affecting 250 employees in Spain, as part of a broader restructuring process aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring the company’s future viability. The measure will focus on transversal areas and will not directly impact the core business divisions of the audiovisual group.
The announcement follows an internal review of operations and the recent departure of around 20 senior executives. The ERE has yet to be formally registered and will enter a negotiation phase with unions in the coming weeks. The restructuring comes as Mediapro lost ground in sports broadcasting rights and is adjusting its structure to reflect a leaner business model.

Mediapro has reached an agreement with employee representatives to implement an ERE affecting 189 workers, representing approximately 20% of its workforce. The majority of those affected are based in Barcelona and Madrid. Employees leaving the company will receive compensation equivalent to unfair dismissal terms, calculated at 33 days’ salary per year of service. The audiovisual group states that the final number of redundancies is lower than initially envisaged. The restructuring forms part of a broader efficiency strategy aimed at adapting the organisation to new market conditions, as the audiovisual industry faces shifting demand, technological change and increasing competitive pressure.
