Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Talgo, one of the main Spanish train manufacturers, plans create 200 new jobs this year at its Rivabellosa plant in Álava (Basque Country), after undertaking a significant industrial investment.
The company aims to strengthen its industrial capacity and improve delivery performance following a period marked by financial difficulties and reputational challenges, partly linked to penalties imposed by Renfe for delivery delays. The company has also acknowledged the need to optimise costs and expand production volumes, particularly in engineering and R&D.
The investment plan will primarily benefit the Rivabellosa facility, increasing manufacturing rates and boosting activity among local suppliers. Talgo is also getting prepared for future challenges, including participation in the next phase of high-speed rail liberalisation in Spain, new Renfe tenders, and the development of a next-generation high-speed train capable of 350 km/h, successor to the Avril platform.
Talgo experienced a previous business expansion in 2022Talgo 2022-ES, with the creation of 237 new jobs
