Description

Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB), Austria’s state-owned railway company operating in the rail transport sector, announced plans to recruit approximately 2,380 new employees in the eastern region of Austria, including train drivers, conductors, shunting staff and traffic controllers.

The recruitment campaign will take place throughout 2026 and includes around 660 paid training places in the region, with all training programmes remunerated from the first day.

Company management and the Federal Ministry for Mobility publicly welcomed the recruitment drive, emphasising employment security and the strategic importance of rail investment for regional economic development.

ÖBB is one of Austria’s largest employers, offering around 130 occupational profiles and providing in-house training for key railway professions across the country.

The ERM events database recorded previous expansions of the ÖBB in 2016 Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) 2016 - AT and in 2017 Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) 2017 - AT.
