Description
Andritz Hydro, an Austrian engineering company, announced the creation of approximately 350 new jobs in light of the modernisation of their plants that is to be completed by 2028. From these new jobs 240 are to be created at its production and competence centre in Weiz, Styria, the rest is allocated to their location in Linz. The expansion will increase employment at both locations by 30 percent.
The expansion responds to strong international demand for turbo generators used in hydropower as well as gas and hydrogen applications. New production halls and modernised facilities are being implemented in Weiz, with investment in upgraded machinery and infrastructure already underway and recruitment focused on permanent qualified staff in fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics and production technology.
The job creation will take place gradually over the coming years as capacity is expanded. Company management underlined the long-term strategic importance of the Weiz site as a technology centre, and the investment has been presented as strengthening regional industrial development.
Andritz Hydro operates globally in plant engineering and energy technology and employs several thousand people worldwide.
The last restructuring of Andritz registered in the ERM took place in 2016 Andritz Hydro 2016 - AT.
