European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Zorka Sp. z o.o., a furniture manufacturing company, has launched collective redundancies affecting over 230 employees at its production facility in Jelenia Góra, Lower Silesia (Poland), with more than 130 layoffs already implemented in January as the first phase.
The layoffs, notified to the local Labour Office, are scheduled to take place between 23 January and 30 June 2026 and follow a 43% year-on-year revenue decline caused by falling orders from the company’s key client, prompting workforce adjustments after earlier restructuring proved insufficient.
The Public Employment Service has announced cooperation with the employer to provide career counselling, reskilling courses, and labour market support to affected workers.
Founded over 70 years ago, Zorka has been a long-standing supplier to IKEA since 1980 and remains one of the traditional industrial employers in the Karkonosze region, reflecting broader challenges across Poland’s furniture sector.
