Wizz Air, a company in the passenger air transport sector, has announced plans to strengthen its presence at Palermo Falcone–Borsellino Airport, where the airline will reopen its operational base and station two Airbus A321neo aircraft. This investment is expected to generate 80 direct jobs and around 700 indirect ones. The company plans to increase capacity by over 200% by 2026, offering nearly 1 million seats. The expansion includes strengthening the domestic network by adding services to Milano Malpensa (14 weekly frequencies), Bologna (11), Venezia (10) and Torino (daily), as well as introducing new international routes to Tel Aviv (three weekly frequencies) and Sharm el-Sheikh (four weekly frequencies).

Updated, 14/09/2026 Wizz Air has officially opened its new base at Torino‑Caselle Airport on 14 September 2026. The launch will create 80 direct jobs and support about 700 indirect positions in the local economy. The network now includes 23 routes across Italy and Europe, with additional winter destinations slated for January 2027.
