Description
SICK, a German-based global market leader in intelligent sensor manufacturing, inaugurated a major capacity expansion at its production site in Kunsziget, western Hungary, resulting in the creation of more than 300 new jobs. At top capacity, the number of employees is set to surpass 1000.
The expansion supports the manufacture of intelligent optical sensors and related automation solutions used across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, transport and aviation. The investment included the construction of a new production hall and two automated logistics warehouses. As a result, the operative capacity of the Kunsziget site grew by more than 50%.
The investment cost was €30 million, 16% of which was provided by government grant.
Sustainability was a core element of the investment, with the installation of a 500 kWp photovoltaic system covering around 15% of the site’s annual electricity consumption.
