Description

The Danish Odense University Hospital (OUH), announced 200 job cuts, 96 of which are direct dismissals and 154 will be lost through natural attrition across units in Odense, Svendborg, Nyborg and Ærø.

The reductions form part of a broader efficiency initiative linked to budget requirements and will take place during 2026.

Staff representatives express cautious optimism as efforts are made to avoid compulsory layoffs. For instance, the hospital attempts to put a hiring freeze on open positions and move staff internally to downsize the total number of staff.

OUH employs around 11,000 people across its regional hospital sites.
