Description
Around 300 new jobs will be created, as part of the FAIST – Agile, Intelligent, Sustainable and Technological Factory project, designed to accelerate the digital transformation of Portugal’s footwear industry. The initiative represents a total investment of around €50 million, funded through Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and involves a consortium of 45 entities, including robotics companies and technology centres, focused on increasing the sector’s added value. The project, which has already reached 80% completion, is expected to be fully concluded by June 2026.
The project is built around four key pillars: automation and robotics, digitalisation, sustainability, and collaboration. The project coordinator explains that automation and robotics aim to make production lines faster, while digitalisation focuses on a data-driven production model supported by integrated systems. Sustainability involves the use of environmentally friendly products and materials.
