European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Siemens, a German multinational active in the engineering and technology sector, announced the creation of more than 100 jobs linked to the relocation of its Carinthia operations to the Lakeside Science & Technology Park in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee (Carinthia, Austria), where new office and research facilities are being developed.
The investment is part of a site expansion and relocation project scheduled to be completed by summer 2026, with Siemens leasing approximately 800 square metres in the newly constructed Building B14, and the new positions expected to consist mainly of permanent, full-time white-collar jobs in engineering, digitalisation and research-related functions.
Regional authorities and park management welcomed the decision, highlighting its positive impact on the Carinthian innovation ecosystem, while company representatives underlined the strategic importance of proximity to the Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt and local research institutions.
Siemens operates globally across industrial automation, digital industries, smart infrastructure and mobility, employing several hundred thousand workers worldwide and maintaining multiple sites in Austria. The relocation now is part of the companies strategy to reposition itself in Austria. In 2024, Siemens announced that it will move its industrial power supply plant from Vienna to Romania by the end of 2026, which was registered by the ERM database Siemens 2024 - AU.
