Description

Ineos, a multinational chemical company, plans to create 300 permanent jobs through the construction of its new petrochemical facility, Project One, in Antwerp, Belgium. The project concerns a plastics and petrochemicals production plant that will convert ethane into ethylene through steam cracking. The construction of Project ONE is underway, and the installation is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

The expansion is motivated by Ineos’s objective to increase European plastic production by adding major new ethylene‑making capacity. Social partners involved include lawyers, community members and financial experts, who are denouncing environmental and health impacts.

Ineos is described as a major global chemical producer. The company has 3,150 employees in Belgium, including 3,050 in Antwerp.
