European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Takeda, a Japanese pharmaceutical company, announced the creation of 150 new jobs at its Rieti production plant in Italy. The investment, part of a €350 million five-year plan launched in 2021, culminated in the opening of the new biotech facility in October 2024.
The expansion is driven by Takeda's strategic focus on digitalisation, automation and sustainability, aimed at boosting the production capacity of plasma‑derived therapies and meeting the growing global demand.
All 150 new positions will be located at the Rieti site.
Takeda operates eight industrial sites worldwide, with the Rieti plant hosting over 750 employees and the Pisa plant adding another 250, making around 1,000 employees in the two Italian facilities.
