Description

Ericsson has announced plans to make 1,600 employees in Sweden redundant, representing more than one in ten of its Swedish workforce of around 12,600. The company says the redundancies are part of global efforts to improve its cost structure and strengthen competitiveness in a market characterised by low growth and rising costs due to inflation.

It is not yet clear which locations or roles will be affected, as this will be determined through forthcoming negotiations with trade unions. Ericsson hopes to conclude the negotiations within the year. The Kista office in Stockholm is expected to be particularly impacted. The layoffs are part of broader, global cost-cutting initiatives, with further measures to be announced in other parts of the company.

Recent restructurings at Ericsson occurred in 2024, Ericsson 2024 - SE, and 2023, Ericsson 2023 - SE.
