Description
Stomil-Poznań, the oldest tyre manufacturer in Poland operating in the rubber and plastics industry, will be fully liquidated, resulting in the loss of 119 jobs in Poznań. The decision was taken by shareholders on 2 January 2025 due to long-term financial losses, mounting debt, and failed restructuring efforts, and will lead to the closure of the entire plant.
All 119 employees will be made redundant, although some may be redeployed to other plants of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (ang. Polish Armaments Group, PGZ) located near Poznań.
The liquidation has been met with concern locally, while trade unions and management are seeking transfer options within the PGZ group.
Founded in 1928, Stomil-Poznań was a pioneer of the Polish tyre industry, introduced major innovations such as the first tubeless tyre in Poland, and for decades was a key industrial employer in the region.
