Description
As announced on 4 December 2025, the grocery retailer Kaufland is opening a new store in Mülheim-Kärlich (near Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate), creating 130 jobs.
The building previously housed the grocery store chain "Real". It was remodelled over a period of seven months in which it was equipped with climate‑friendly modern technology. For example, the store is heated using the refrigeration units. The waste heat from the cooling system is used to air‑condition the store.
Kaufland belongs to the Schwarz Group. The grocery retailer employs 157,000 people worldwide, of whom 90,000 work in Germany.
