European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Konecta announced closure of Ivrea and Asti sites, transferring 1,100+ employees (700 Ivrea, 412 Asti) to Turin's strada del Drosso headquarters by June 2026. The Spanish multinational's December 5 announcement, delivered post-Christmas at the conclusion of an industrial plan presentation meeting, sparked immediate political and union mobilization.
UILcom RSU (trade union) characterized transfers as "disguised dismissals," noting 70% hold part-time contracts of 4-6 hours with salaries below €700 monthly, making daily commuting economically unsustainable. Forty-two staff leasing employees face particularly precarious positions, formally employed by temporary agencies but operating within Konecta.
CISL Asti-Alessandria (trade union) Deputy General Secretary condemned putting 400 Asti and 700 Ivrea families "on the street with transfer excuses," emphasizing companies serve territorial stability beyond profit generation. Pre-Christmas timing appeared designed minimizing attention.
Konecta operates in 26 countries with 130,000+ employees globally. Following 2022 Comdata merger and 2024 rebranding, the company lost major contracts including TIM, Generali, Iren, and Fibercop. Last year's solidarity agreements covered 2,700 workers across 11 sites with 25% hour reductions (potentially 45% monthly).
