Description
The Austrian leather manufacturer that supplies automotive seats and trims Wollsdorf Leder has announced 150 job cuts at its main site in Wollsdorf, Styria, affecting 130 production workers and 20 administrative employees. These reductions concern the company’s Austrian operations, which currently employ around 370 people.
The restructuring is driven by the company’s decision to relocate part of its leather production to foreign sites. The dismissals are expected to take place once the relocation plan is implemented, with job losses primarily involving permanent full-time positions in blue-collar production and a smaller number of white-collar administrative roles.
Job reduction measures are limited to dismissals, as the company has formally registered the affected employees with the Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS). The AMS confirmed receipt of the employer’s collective dismissal notification. Company management indicated that the decision is linked to international site optimisation.
Wollsdorf Leder operates globally with production facilities in Croatia, China and Mexico and maintains sales branches in the US, China, Hong Kong and Uruguay. The firm employs several hundred workers internationally.
