Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
TSharkmob AB, a Swedish video game studio operating in the computer games publishing and development sector, has launched cooperation negotiations with trade unions as part of a major internal restructuring at its Malmö headquarters. The company intends to reduce its workforce by around 150 positions out of the current 320, affecting nearly half of all employees at the site. The affected workforce includes full-time employees across development, production and support functions.
The negotiations were initiated in mid-November 2025 in response to a challenging business environment for game developers and the need to streamline operations around the continued development of Exoborne, the studio’s upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter.
Sharkmob representatives state the cooperation negotiations are a result of a generally challenging business environment for game developers. The company had already closed down its studio in London, UK, in 2024.
