Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Bitdefender, a Romanian cybersecurity and antivirus software company, announced its intention to dismiss 125 persons by the end of 2025. The Business Solutions Group (BSG) division is the most affected by the layoff process. Bitdefender announced that the decision is not a short-term cost-cutting measure, but a step toward modernization that aligns people and initiatives with the direction in which the cybersecurity market is evolving.
The company announced that all employees affected by the downsizing will receive severance packages, career transition assistance, and access to internal opportunities.
Bitdefender is dual headquartered company in Bucharest, Romania and San Antonio, Texas, with offices in the United States, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. Currently the company has a workforce of 1,650 people.
