Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Finnish company Nokia specializing in telecommunications has announced it is cutting 427 jobs (including 141 managerial-level occupations) through a collective voluntary termination agreement, mainly in support functions, services and R&D, as part of a global restructuring plan announced in 2023. It will affect its sites in Nozay, Massy and Lannion.
This reduction has been prompted by the slowdown of its traditional business lines, mobile phones and telecom infrastructure, while the company gravitates toward AI and hyperscalers, which offer stronger growth prospects.
