Description

As announced on 30 October 2025, German medical technology company Leica Biosystems plans to cut around 90 jobs at its headquarters in Nußloch (Baden-Württemberg) and relocate them to China and the USA. Currently, 300 employees work at the Nußloch site, meaning the job cuts would affect 30 percent of the workforce.

The dismissals follow a voluntary exit programme and are expected to impact departments such as marketing, service and support, and research and development.

As the measures primarily affect long-established employees, the works council is seeking to prevent dismissals. The "IG Metall Heidelberg" union hopes to negotiate a social plan. In case the involved parties cannot agree on a socially responsible solution, legal measures will be taken.

Globally, Leica Biosystems employs around 3,000 people.
