Description

Paul Green, an Austrian footwear manufacturer, announced the closure of its production site in Mattsee (Flachgau, Salzburg), affecting around 120 employees. To maintain long-term competitiveness, Paul Green will offshore most of its manufacturing operations to its plant in Prelog, Croatia. Despite the shutdown, Mattsee will remain the company’s headquarters.

The restructuring was prompted by persistently difficult economic conditions, reduced consumer demand, and US import tariffs, which have made local production in Austria no longer economically viable.

The company stated that it aims to implement the restructuring in a socially responsible manner, engaging with employee representatives and local authorities to find fair solutions for the affected workers.

Local management emphasised that the decision was made with regret, acknowledging the importance of the Mattsee site for both employees and the region. At the same time, further investments at the headquarters are planned to sustain other business functions.
