Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Jamnica, a Croatian beverage company, best recognized as the country’s leading producer of bottled mineral and spring water, has announced the recruitment of 115 workers for its plant in Jastrebarsko, including 65 production line workers and 50 warehouse workers.
The company offers a gross salary of €1,030 per month, below the minimum wage planned for the next year. For production workers, no special qualifications are required beyond completing elementary school, and prior work experience is not necessary. For warehouse positions, completion of lower grades of elementary school is sufficient, and experience is also not required.
Jamnica is part of the Fortenova Group, which recorded €230 million in revenue last year, a 14% increase compared to the previous year, with a net profit of €24 million, up 450%. At the end of the previous year, the group employed 963 workers, approximately 30 more than the year before.
