Description
Vynova, a Belgian-owned chemical producer at the Chemelot Industrial Park in Geleen, announced the closure of its PVC powder plant, leading to the loss of around 100 jobs. The decision follows continued weak demand, global overcapacity in PVC production and strong competition from regions with lower costs and less stringent regulation.
The management has requested advice from the works council and started consultations with trade unions to prepare a social plan. Production is expected to cease in November 2025. Union FNV aims to negotiate improved compensation, as the previous DSM-era social plan recently expired.
