European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Visteon, a US-based company in the automotive components sector, is investing €10 million to create more than 150 new jobs over the next two years, in Palmela.
According to the Palmela Municipality, “the new Visteon facilities [inaugurated on 18 september 2025] reinforce the company’s commitment to technology in the production of electronic products for vehicle cockpits and connected car solutions.”
The Palmela plant already employs around 1,200 people and manufactures a range of systems and components for the automotive industry, including audio components, electronic control modules for airbags, scroll compressors for air conditioning systems, instrument panels, climate control modules, and plastic components for air circulation modules.
For next year, the company has also announced plans to expand its photovoltaic power plant to reduce costs and achieve a smaller carbon footprint, thereby enhancing competitiveness.
