European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Italian-owned meat processing company Kométa 99 is building two new production halls in Kaposvár, Southern Transdanubia. The development will create 200 new jobs. The firm is already recruiting the first 100 new employees. In total, the entire investment project is expected to generate around 280 jobs once fully completed.
The management hopes that the relatively high wages and good working conditions offered by the company will attract workers back home from abroad, making it easier to fill the new positions. They also train their own employees within the company to occasionally redeploy to new positions.
The first building is scheduled for completion by the spring of 2026, while the second is expected to be finished by the end of 2027.
The objective of the capacity expansion is to increase the export volume and enhance the firm’s standing at the European level.
The investment cost is approximately €75 million, of which the Hungarian government has provided €25 million as a non-refundable grant.
Last year, the Kaposvár plant employed 1,049 people, including temporary workers.
