Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish forestry giant Södra has initiated cooperation negotiations and issued an institutional advance notification regarding 200 staff. The negotiations comprise both white-collar and blue-collar employees in the geographical locations of Mönsterås, Mörrum, Värö and Växjö.
Södra states that the cooperation negotiations are a result of lower profitability due to an interaction of factors such as rapid currency fluctuations, geopolitical unrest, and a long-term relationship between raw material prices and finished product prices.
Södra is Sweden's largest forest owners' association with over 52,000 individual forest owners and approximately 3,100 employees.
