Description
The Arlanxeo factory is shutting its facility in the Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine industrial zone on 2 October 2025, threatening 165 direct jobs and many indirect jobs among subcontractors.
Local officials highlight the structural difficulties currently facing the European chemical industry, particularly under pressure from strong Asian competition. The closure marks a significant industrial setback for the Normandy region, where the plant has long played a central role in employment and production. Negotiations for a job protection plan are expected to begin in October.
