Description
Ryanair will create over 800 new jobs in Sicily with its new base at Trapani-Marsala airport opening January 2026. The Irish carrier announced the $200 million investment following Sicily Region's abolition of municipal surcharges at minor airports, making Trapani its twentieth Italian base and third in Sicily.
Employment opportunities span both cabin crew and ground staff positions, including flight attendants, pilots, check-in agents, baggage handlers, ramp agents, and various operational support roles.
The facility will deploy new Boeing 737 aircraft, with one aircraft for winter 2025 and two for summer 2026, targeting annual traffic exceeding one million passengers. CEO emphasized the base will strengthen connectivity for Sicilian citizens and boost tourism across the island.
The new hub will operate 23 routes, including 11 new connections to Baden-Baden, Bari, Bratislava, Bournemouth, Brussels, Katowice, London, Pescara, Saarbrücken, Stockholm, and Verona. These routes combine domestic Italian links with major European destinations.
