Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French automotive subcontractor Amis, specializing in the manufacturing of forged automotive and industrial parts, is facing a critical situation after the Lyon Commercial Court ordered its judicial liquidation. This results in the layoff of 191 employees, including 16 manager positions, by the end of the month. Although considered hopeful, the takeover made by the CMW group was not accepted. Amis has been weakened by successive layoff waves and the crisis in the automotive sector. According to trade unions representatives, the company did not manage to diversify its activities, which led to the unfortunate outcome.
