European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Billerud, a Swedish pulp and paper company, has announced a restructuring programme that will cut up to 650 jobs across its European operations and global functions as part of efforts to achieve annual savings of SEK 800 million.
In Sweden, about 590 jobs will be cut Billerud 2025-SE. The sources provide that all five mills and the head office will be affected. Negotiations with unions are set to begin, with employee representatives warning of significant impacts on workers, their families, and local communities.
The company cites a weakened market situation and declining results as the main reasons for the cuts.
Billerud, which employs nearly 5,800 people globally, produces packaging and paper materials such as liquid cartons, containerboard, and cartonboard, with major production sites in Sweden, Finland, and the United States.
Billerud has offices and customer service centres in multiple countries across Europe, Asia, and North America, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, China, India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
