Description
The consortium led by aero.next portugal, with the participation of EEA - Aircraft and Maintenance, CEiiA, Tekever, Portuguese Air Force and Geosat has submitted to the Municipality of Ponte de Sor the licensing request for the assembly plant of the LUS-222 aircraft. This investment, amounting to €220 million, is expected to create between 150 and 300 direct jobs.
The LUS-222 is a twin-engine aircraft designed for both civil and military purposes, with the capacity to transport 2,700 kg of cargo or 19 passengers. “Portugal will become a final aircraft assembly integrator. Few countries retain this competence. The project will bring an entirely new level of development to the Portuguese aeronautics sector,” stated the Vice-President of the Municipality of Ponte de Sor.
