European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
HORNBACH, an Austrian-based home improvement and DIY retail company, announced the creation of approximately 100 new jobs at its newly opened store in Eisenstadt, Burgenland, covering a sales area of 16,175 m².
The expansion forms part of HORNBACH’s ongoing growth strategy in Austria, aiming to provide a comprehensive range of products for DIY enthusiasts, professionals, and gardeners, with the store featuring over 200,000 items and a drive-in service. The new positions are expected to be permanent, full-time roles, mainly in retail, logistics, and customer service within the Eisenstadt location.
Social partners and local authorities welcomed the development, highlighting the positive impact on the regional economy and labour market. Political representatives, including the mayor of Eisenstadt and Burgenland officials, emphasized the store’s significance for local employment and economic growth.
HORNBACH Baumarkt AG operates a network of retail stores across Austria and Europe, providing a broad assortment of home improvement products. The company continues to pursue strategic expansion in Austria, with Eisenstadt marking its first store in Burgenland.
