Description
HAKA Küche GmbH, an Austrian kitchen manufacturer, announced insolvency at its Traun site, affecting 158 employees across production and administrative units and 120 creditors.
The insolvency, filed at the Linz Regional Court, stems primarily from the 2023 acquisition of Villeroy & Boch Austria’s bathroom furniture plant, which became a loss-making operation, compounded by assumed employee claims and declining post-pandemic kitchen demand. The company intends to continue operations, and a liquidity plan has been presented offering creditors a 20% repayment over two years.
The regional Chamber of Labour (AK Oberösterreich) advises caution for employees and customers, noting unpaid salaries for July and recommending careful handling of contracts and claims. A works meeting will be held to inform staff.
Founded in 1930 as a small carpentry business, HAKA Küche evolved into one of Austria’s leading kitchen manufacturers. The firm’s total liabilities amount to €11.4 million, making it the third-largest insolvency in Upper Austria in 2025.
