Description
The Ministry of Energy announced the start of the production at the Petromidia refinery's cogeneration plant. The refinery will create 160 new jobs by the end of 2025. Petromidia is the largest Romanian oil refinery and one of the largest in Eastern Europe, located in Navodari (Constanta County). The new production unit was opened after a €140 million investment of the Kazakh Romanian Energy Investment Fund (FIEKR). The plant will fully cover the platform's consumption, contributing the surplus to the National Energy System.
The Romanian state owns 44.7% of the share capital of Rompetrol Rafinare which owns the Petromidia refinery. The plant will supply electricity (over 80 MW) and process steam (180 t/h) directly to Petromidia, fully covering the platform's consumption and contributing the surplus to the National Energy System (SEN).
