European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Direction Générale des Finances Publiques (DGFiP), which is responsible for tax matters and the public management of the state's accounts, is recruiting over 150 people for various sites across France.
Parthenay, in the Deux-Sèvres department, will host one of the seven new contact platforms, creating 50 jobs. This has been heavily criticised by trade unions, particularly given the 330 redeployments within these new structures. The other new sites will open in Brive-la-Gaillarde, Pithiviers, Le Mans, Longuenesse, Toulon and Saint-Benoît. In Longuenesse, the centre will specialise in fines. Fifty new jobs will be created. In Brive, the new centre will liaise with companies from September 2026 onwards. The first forty recruits will be hired in September and will then be taken on progressively.
This recruitment announcement comes after a scandal over the high number of suicides within the General Directorate. Thirteen deaths and eight attempted suicides have occurred since the beginning of the year. On 9 July, the trade unions and management met to discuss the issue. Since 2008, 32,000 jobs have been cut from the Directorate, leading to intense job pressure.
