European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Conad has notified unions of 817 collective dismissals following its acquisition of Auchan. The layoffs primarily affect administrative staff from the former company, with the procedure expected to conclude by the end of 2020.
The workforce reductions concentrate heavily in Lombardy, representing approximately half of the total dismissals announced to unions in Rome. The entire administrative structure of the former Auchan operation will be eliminated as part of the integration process.
Additional job losses are anticipated for retail network employees, as six former Auchan supermarkets have been sold to Esselunga (five in Lombardy) and 28 to Carrefour, mainly in the Milan metropolitan area.
