Description
The German tool manufacturer Mapal is cutting 230 of around 1,600 jobs at its site in Aalen (Baden-Württemberg).
The reason for the job cuts is the ongoing crisis in the automotive industry; the restructuring will begin in spring 2025 and includes a social plan, a voluntary redundancy programme and the establishment of a transfer company.
Many employees accepted voluntary redundancy agreements or a transfer to the transfer company, meaning that only a few redundancies had to be announced.
The IG Metall trade union critically monitored the process and called for a viable concept for the future.
Mapal is an internationally active precision tool manufacturer based in Aalen and employs over 5000 people in 25 countries worldwide.
