Description
The German eyewear manufacturer Menrad is laying off 100 employees following the closure of its site in Schwäbisch Gmünd (Baden-Württemberg). The entire workforce at the headquarters, where the production, marketing and sales of spectacle frames were based, is affected.
The reason for the restructuring is liquidity problems due to declining orders and sales as well as an unsuccessful search for an investor. The company filed for insolvency at the end of March 2025. The redundancies affect full-time permanent employees. The redundancies will take place after the expiry of the insolvency wage compensation at the end of May; a social plan is intended to cushion the impact.
