Description
The German multinational footwear company Gabor, which has been operating in Portugal since 1986, is set to carry out a collective dismissal of 222 employees at its Silveiros factory, in Barcelos. It follows a previous round of layoffs just two months ago, with a dismissal of 67 workers.
The company attributes this restructuring process to the ongoing economic crisis and the consequent decline in orders and underlined that the measure is “an appropriate, proportionate, and rational management decision.”
The production sector will be most affected by the dismissals, but the cuts will also impact supervisors from the assembly line, pre-assembly, finishing, and stitching areas
