Description
Thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions, a German automotive supplier and subsidiary of the steel group Thyssenkrupp, has announced the reduction of up to 230 jobs at four locations in the Heilbronn area. Employees from the plant service and administration departments are particularly affected.
The company cites the sharp drop in demand for car body parts, particularly as a result of production cutbacks at major customers, as the reason for the restructuring. The measure is part of a strategic reorganisation to ensure the long-term profitability of the business unit in Germany.
Both the IG Metall trade union and the works council have criticised the redundancies and the management's lack of transparency and have announced that they will actively oppose the cuts in the upcoming negotiations with the company and fight for every job.
