Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars has initiated cooperation negotiations and announced that 1,200 jobs need to be cut in Sweden and in total 3,000 worldwide. The job cuts in Sweden will mainly affect office-based, clerical employees. Volvo Cars is also decreasing the number of consultants used by the company by 1,000.
The company's operating profit for the first quarter of 2025 was SEK 2.8 billion (€ 257.3 million) lower than a year earlier. The company expects the restructuring measures to cost up to SEK 1.5 billion (€ 137.8 million), affecting the company's financial results for the second quarter of 2025.
Volvo Cars has around 23,000 employees in Sweden and about 42,600 employees worldwide.
