European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The French group Forvia specialized in the field of the automotive industry, announced that the site located in Massei, Normandy, will close its doors at the end of 2026 and eliminate a total of 123 jobs. Forvia also declared that it will cut nearly 10,000 jobs worldwide by 2028.The Forvia factory produces around 6000 auto parts each day for customers such as Peugeot, Jaguar, Toyota and Renault. All 109 permanent positions and 14 fixed-term positions will be cut. Over the past few years, the site has been experiencing financial difficulties linked to the sanitary crisis and foreign competition from manufacturers.
Workers from the site of Messei decided to bring coffins in front of the company premises as a form of protest and anger. Against this tense backdrop, a psychologist has been called in to provide support for the employees and ensure that they are not in distress.
