European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The British company Unilever is ending the production of hair care products at its site near Meux, resulting in 70 job cuts out of a total 250 employees by 2030. Of these, 20 will be through voluntary departures, while the remaining 50 take place through natural attrition (retirement). The decision is part of a broader plan to restructure and refocus the site’s operations. Unilever is investing €14 million to shift production towards dental care products, primarily for its Signal brand, which now constitutes the majority of the site’s output.
Until now, much of this production was subcontracted to Eastern Europe Unilever 2025 - FR. The hair product line is being phased out due to declining demand caused by high competition and increasing prices. This investment follows a prior €15 million investment into the site over the past five years.
Several restructuring have been recorded in the ERM database, with the lastest cutting 120 in Bulgaria Unilever 2025 - BG.
