Description

Satakunta welfare region has concluded the cooperation negotiations initiated in January 2025. As a result, 283 positions are removed, and 114 persons will be dismissed. Those facing layoffs will be offered a chance to investigate re-deployment opportunities to currently open positions in the welfare region. Such negotiations and investigations are currently conducted with 121 employees.

The layoffs affect health and welfare services broadly. However, the unit for health care transcription services with 50 staff is especially affected as the unit is to be shut down. The services performed by this unit will be automated in the future. Temporary layoffs for school social workers are also planned.

Welfare regions are a regional government body formed in 2023, responsible for health, rescue, and social services. The current cost reduction measures are related to government austerity policies.

Satakunta welfare region has approximately 9,000 employees.
