Gifi has made public a drastic transformation plan aimed at reinvigorating the brand in the context of increased competition with other discount stores (Action, La Foir'Fouille). The French discount giant announced that it will be selling off 11 of its 570 stores across France. A total of 302 jobs will be cut, representing 5% of the workforce. Gifi CEO Philippe Brochard is optimistic about the upcoming transformations. According to him, the first positive effects of this deep restructuring, which includes the implementation of around 10 projects in the fields of marketing, inventory management, and product repositioning, should be felt by the end of 2025.
