Description
Isover, a German insulation manufacturer in the construction industry and part of the French Saint-Gobain Group, is discontinuing glass wool production at its plant in Bergisch Gladbach, affecting around 160 of the 220 production jobs. The remaining production of the speciality insulation material ‘Ultimate’, employing around 60 staff, will continue at the site.
The restructuring is due to the ongoing decline in the construction sector and export business. Production is expected to cease by July 2025, primarily impacting production jobs in four-shift operations.
A social plan and potential transfers to other Saint-Gobain sites, particularly to Speyer, are planned. Vocational trainees will be offered the opportunity to complete their training within the company.
Employee representatives were involved early on, and negotiations on socially responsible solutions are ongoing.
Isover is part of Saint-Gobain and operates four plants in Germany: Bergisch Gladbach, Speyer, Ladenburg, and Lübz.
