Description
Eurolysine, a manufacturer of lysine and other amino acids derived from beetroot sugar, is recruiting 35 employees in Amiens in 2025. Previously owned by Metabolic Explorer (MetEx), the company was acquired by the Avril Group and Bpifrance in July 2024. Before the takeover, Eurolysine faced financial difficulties due to high sugar prices and competition from Chinese manufacturers. Since then, it has already hired 40 new workers.
To support the company's turnaround, the European Union has imposed five year anti-dumping tariffs following a complaint initiated by MetEx. Now, Eurolysine aims to scale up production to achieve profitability while improving its energy efficiency. The new investors plan to inject 130 million euros over the next five years to support these efforts. Currently, 20% of the site’s production consists of amino acids other than lysine. The Avril Group has lodged a complaint at the European level regarding alleged unfair competition from China in the valine manufacturing market.
